Stop Smoking Remedies

If smoking is known to be an addiction, why doesn’t the gov use the rev from cig tax for smoking cessation ?

The state that I live in is proposing a per pack increase on cigarettes. I called the governors office to ask about the plans for the revenue from that tax. Not one dime was going into any kind of fund to help smokers quit.

I asked about giving smokers smoking cessation aides such as gum, patches, Chantix through the public health system. Nope. I asked about ANY programs to help people quit smoking. NONE.

So, isn’t taxing cigarettes and not putting the money into any program to help smokers quit basically milking people with an addiction?

Wouldn’t it be the "right" thing to do to use the money for smoking cessation programs to help people quit?

Isn’t that what the anti-smoking people want…for people to not smoke?

Or do they enjoy the benefits of the money that is generated from taxing people with an addiction?

Millions for “smoking cessation programs” to lessen the medical costs? How is this a Stimulus for the economy?
